Health Fair Event Helps Those With Health and Resource Questions
One Lubbock event is assisting those in need with questions about their health and screenings. For the second year in a row Covenant Health will be partnering with other organizations from Lubbock for the 2nd Annual Health for a Better Lubbock Community Health Fair.
The goal behind the event is to serve the community while also educating people about available resources they might need and qualify for. There will be booths and stations that will have specific things they help with such as
Car Seat Checks, Water Safety Education, Dental Education, Mental Health Awareness, Wellness Checks: BMI, BP, & A1C, Medicaid Redetermination Enrollment Specialists and Joe Arrington Cancer Center Cancer Screenings
Some of the other organizations will be helping with the event as it kicks off, such as the South Plains Food Bank which will also be in full force with their own program. That program will be a feeding program in which children who rely on school food to eat during the year will be able to get free food from the mobile food pantry.
Along with getting help for resources there will be plenty of other activities, such as bounce houses, food trucks, a photo booth and even the Kite Flight pediatric high-risk obstetric transport helicopter will be at the event. This entire health fair is made possible by Covenant Health and their partners the YWCA, Larry Combest Community Health & Wellness Center, Lubbock Children's Health Clinic and Lubbock High School. This event will be on June 3rd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 6501 University Avenue at the YWCA.
