One man is in custody following a kidnapping of a Lubbock woman. On Wednesday, March 13, morning at around 8 a.m. is when the body of 58-year-old Stacey Williams was discovered by a passerby. This prompted multiple agencies such as the Texas Department of Public Safety, FBI, Texas Rangers, Terry County Sheriff's Office, and Lubbock Police Department to investigate the incident.

Williams had been reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday, March 12, from the 100 block of Waco Avenue when she stepped outside. During this time is when 40-year-old Jabaar Smith was inside the home and heard noises coming from outside. KAMC news reports that Smith witnessed a man taking Williams against her will before the suspect fired multiple rounds at him. Smith was shot and transported to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, the suspect was able to flee the scene with Williams shortly after.

At 4 p.m. on March 13, hours after Williams body was discovered on Highway 137 outside of Brownfield, is when the Lubbock Police Department located 42-year-old Miguel Garcia. The Lubbock Police Department did have to call in the SWAT Team to the 100 block of East Tulane Street and were able to arrest Garcia just after 4 p.m.. As per the publishing of this article Garcia is still being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Garcia's bond is currently set to $1,000,000 and as of now this investigation is ongoing.
