Lubbock Independent School District Releases Statement

Lubbock ISD has released a statement saying that the body that was discovered on the "perimeter" of the property of Ervin Elementary School was found before the start of the school day. Hopefully that means none of the students saw the body.

Lubbock ISD also said that the school day will go on as normally as possible.

Early this morning, a deceased individual was discovered near the perimeter of Ervin Elementary School property before the start of the school day. Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel responded immediately, and the area was secured without disruption to school operations.

Police and the medical examiner are actively investigating, and the area remains secured out of respect for the deceased and in accordance with proper procedures. There is no threat to students or staff, and the school day is proceeding as normally as possible under the circumstances.

The district is working to ensure support is available for anyone who may need it. We appreciate the continued cooperation of our families and the swift response from law enforcement.

This is a developing story and will be updated as addition details come out.
