If you are looking for a way to give back to the community coming up to Thanksgiving, Lubbock Meals on Wheels and United Supermarkets has a great opportunity to get involved.

Starting on November 8th and going until November 22nd, 2023, they are hosting their 32nd annual Easy as Pie fundraiser.

You can participate by donating $5 at the register when shopping at United, Markets Street, or Amigos. Meals on Wheels states, “All proceeds benefit Lubbock Meals on Wheels and help over 950 people remain at home, well-fed, and independent as long as possible.”

When you donate, you will receive a coupon to get a free Mrs. Smith’s pie, which is redeemable at any Lubbock Market Street, United, or Amigos.

To kick off this huge fundraiser, they are hosting a pie eating contest at the United on 114th and Slide. There will be a variety of local celebrities participating including our very own Mikael Donnovan.

The contest starts at noon this Wednesday, November 8th. So, be sure to come by, cheer on the competitors, and grab some groceries while you’re at it.

Here’s a word about the fundraiser from Sydney Hopper, the President of The United Family:

"This holiday season marks 32 years of partnership between The United Family and Lubbock Meals on Wheels through the Easy as Pie promotion. We are proud to continue the tradition of helping others and feeding those in our community who need it the most. As always, the holiday season is about giving and we hope our guests will join in to help our neighbors."
