Nothing is quite as refreshing as a cold drink while siting by the pool. Here are 10 cocktail ideas for you to enjoy on a hot day, and many of them can be made without alcohol for anyone under 21.

Remember, glass and the pool don't mix! so make sure any 'glass' you use for these recipes is pool safe.

Paloma 

  • 2 ounces tequila 
  • 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice, plus wedges for garnish 
  • 2 ounces sparkling water 
  • ½ ounce lime juice 
  • ¼ ounce agave nectar or simple syrup, or to taste 

Shake ingredients with ice, strain into a glass over fresh ice, and garnish with a grapefruit wedge. You can also salt the rim of the glass.  

Mai Tai 

  • 1 1/2 ounces white rum 
  • 3/4 ounce orange curaçao 
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed 
  • 1/2 ounce orgeat 
  • 1/2 ounce dark rum 

Shake ingredients, excluding the dark rum, with ice, strain into a glass over fresh ice, and garnish with lime wedge and mint sprig. Float dark rum on top of the drink.

Chilton 

  • 1.5 ounces vodka 
  • 2 ounces lemon juice 
  • Pinch of salt 
  • Soda water 

Combine ingredients in a glass with ice and gently stir together. You can garnish the glass with a lemon slice and rim the glass with salt. 

Peach Rose Sangria 

  • 1 bottle rosé wine 
  • 1/4 cup brandy or peach brandy 
  • 1 cup peach juice or nectar 
  • 3 peaches, pitted and sliced thin 
  • 1/2 pint raspberries, washed 
  • Sparkling water 

Combine ingredients in a pitcher excluding the sparkling water. Chill in the fridge until ready to serve. When serving, pour the mixture (including fruit) into a glass and top with sparkling water.  

Watermelon Daiquiri 

  • 1.5 ounces tablespoons watermelon juice 
  • 2.5 ounces white rum  
  • 0.5 ounces fresh lime juice 
  • ½ tablespoon agave nectar 

Shake ingredients with ice, strain into a glass over fresh ice, and garnish with a watermelon slice. You can also salt or sugar the rim of the glass. 

Margarita 

  • 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila 
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec) 
  • 3/4 ounce freshly-squeezed lime juice 
  • optional sweetener: agave nectar or simple syrup, to taste 

Shake ingredients with ice, strain into a glass over fresh ice, and garnish with a lime wedge. You can also salt or sugar the rim of the glass. 

Aperol Spritz 

  • 3 ounces Aperol 
  • 3 ounces dry Prosecco 
  • 1 ounce club soda or unflavored sparkling water 

Combine ingredients in a glass with ice and gently stir together. You can garnish the glass with an orange slice.  

Tom Collins 

  • 2 ounces London dry gin 
  • 1 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed 
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup 
  • Club soda, to top 

Combine ingredients in a glass with ice and gently stir together. You can garnish the glass with a lemon slice and maraschino cherry. 

Piña Colada (4 servings) 

  • ½ fresh pineapple, peeled, cut into 1½" pieces 
  • 6 oz. sweetened cream of coconut (preferably Coco López) 
  • 2 oz. unsweetened coconut milk 
  • 8 oz. white rum 
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lime juice 

Freeze pineapple chunks before preparing. Combine ingredients plus three cups of ice into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve with a pineapple slice as garnish. Optional: freeze blended mixture for 30 minutes and re-blend for a smoother texture. You can also add a float of dark rum on the top when serving. 

Amaretto Sour

  • 3 Ounces Amaretto 
  • 2 Ounces Sweet and Sour Mix 
  • Sprite 

Combine ingredients in a glass with ice and gently stir together. You can garnish with cherries and an orange slice.
