A Texas woman reported missing by her family has been found alive in the woodlands of Scotland, where she’s now part of a group calling itself the Kingdom of Kubala.

Authorities identified the woman as Kaura Taylor, who now goes by the name Lady Safi or Asnat. She’s living with three leaders of the group: King Atehene, his wife Queen Nandi, and serving as the Queen’s “handmaiden.”

In a video message, Taylor pushed back on her “missing” status, saying: "Obviously I am not missing. Leave me alone. I’m an adult, not a helpless child." In videos posted online she explains her role as a handmaid and surrogate for the Queen.

Who are the Kingdom of Kubala?

The self-proclaimed “tribe” says they’ve settled in a Scottish forest to reclaim land they believe was taken from their ancestors 400 years ago. Their leader, Atehene, who at one point in his life was an opera singer, claims to be a descendant of King David.

The group says they reject U.K. law, live off the land, and only follow their God, Yahowah. They describe their lifestyle as “returning to innocence,” living in tents, bathing in spring water, and “relying daily on the creator for food, shelter and clothing.”

The tribe gets with with eviction and backlash.

Local authorities have reportedly served eviction notices, and the group says one of their tents was recently set on fire. They claim they are being persecuted for their beliefs.

Queen Nandi has posted online that their mission is to bring back “lost tribes” and reclaim Scotland as their homeland, calling this movement a “Second Exodus.”
