I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have a huge porch pirate problem here in Texas. A recent study revealed that the Lone Star State is among the states most vulnerable to package theft.

Knock on wood, but I haven’t yet fallen victim to package theft. Mostly because I’m extra vigilant and try to make sure I’m home when I know a package is out for delivery. That’s one of the great things about remote work capabilities.

However, not everyone is so lucky. In fact, I would say most people have to wait until they get off work to go home and get their package. Unless you have someone at your house to pick up the package and bring it inside, you just have to hope for the best.

Study Ranks Texas 7th in Package Theft

That’s why I figured I would spread the word about the study conducted by third-party logistics provider GoBolt. Researchers found that Texas is the seventh-most at-risk state for package theft. So maybe put a plan in place the next time you have a package out for delivery.

The study also found that the average price of the goods inside packages that were stolen in Texas is $100. That’s bad enough, but if you’re looking for a silver lining, at least we’re not in Indiana or Mississippi, where the average price of a stolen package is a whopping $250.

It sucks that we live in a world where you have to worry about that sort of thing. Unfortunately, I don’t see it ever changing.
