Raider Red Meats BBQ & Ribeye Championship Returns To Lubbock in 2025
The Raider Red Meats BBQ & Ribeye cookoff will be held Friday, August 15th, through Saturday, the 16th, according to Texas Tech University's website.

Based on the tentative schedule, categories will include chicken, ribs, pork, brisket, and steak. Prepared meats will be due throughout the day on Saturday. Raw meats will be inspected the day before and must be provided by your team.
The event is KCBS-sanctioned as a State Championship, and there is $15,000 in prize money up for grabs! The bragging rights are priceless, but that money would be nice, too!
The cost is $275 per team, and you may compete in as many meat categories as you wish. The application is here.

If you are super serious about promoting our West Texas culture, event sponsorship tables are available for $1000 (seats 8) and includes a dinner of prime rib, drinks, a live and silent auction, the Raider Rumble Celebrity cookoff and live music.
Or, you can attend the Backyard Barbeque Cookoff Demo which is from 8:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. foir free at Red Raider Meats on that Saturday. Red Raider Meats is located at 1308 Indiana Ave, on Texas Tech campus.
