Halloween is more than a month away and while you may not be thinking of ghosts and goblins or even carved pumpkins, the folks at Lubbock Parks and Rec are looking ahead to this year's 2021 Pumpkin Trail.

The 13th Annual Pumpkin Trail will be held on October 21st and goes through October 24th. Daytime hours for the upcoming Pumpkin Trail are Friday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Evening Hours are Thursday and Sunday 6-9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 6-10 p.m.

As always the Pumpkin Trail will be at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum and Garden & Arts Center and parking is available from 40th-44th St. and University Ave. There will also be additional parking and a park and ride feature at Safety City at 46th and Ave. U which is southeast of Clapp Park.

And while the Pumpkin Trail doesn't open for over a month, Lubbock Parks and Recreation needs citizens to commit to carving pumpkins for the event. According to a Facebook page for the Pumpkin Trail, Lubbock Parks and Recreation needs people to call 806-767-3706 and take the pledge to donate a pumpkin or two or three.

Most likely, carved pumpkins will have to be turned in on Wednesday, October 20 but those details will be released closer to the Pumpkin Trail.

If you've never been to the Pumpkin Trail before, you should absolutely go. It's a family-friendly and free event that really showcases a lot of creative work done by citizens. The trail is lined with carved jack-o-lanterns and displays from different people, organizations, and businesses in Lubbock. Be sure to put it on your calendar for this October.
