So, the City of Lubbock is looking for Yard Karens to complain about weeds in their neighbors' lawns. Understandably, that's going over REALLY WELL.

I'm going to tell our friends at City Hall the same thing that I tell the people who write our silly little stories and post them up on social media:

"DON'T READ THE COMMENTS!"

Because, yeah. There's a good old-fashioned West Texas barbecue going on over there.

Add that to the fact that they're now actively seeking people to narc on their neighbors if the weeds get too high and you're just asking for trouble. Especially if you aren't taking care of your own house.

The Buddy Holly Hall is probably one of the most beautiful and sonically pleasing concert venues on the planet, and yet the planters outside have apparently been overrun with wild West Texas vegetation.

It looks like the run of Little Shop of Horrors has been extended...ONTO THE SIDEWALK!

This is our show palace, the crown jewel of the Hub City, and it's starting to look like an eyesore. I know...tough love.

I understand that the landscapers have signage up stating that they want the vegetation to take root or something, but I couldn't really read it because of all of the weeds. I'd rather have some decorative rock or something instead of this. This is not a good look.

Honestly, my issue is not with the weeds situation at the Buddy Holly Hall. It's with the hypocrisy to try to fine citizens and turn us against one another if the city can't practice what we preach. And this isn't the first time weeds have gotten out of control in Lubbock. The last time was arguably even worse.

Want me to clean up my yard? Take care of your own house first.
