It was just a matter of time before the southside of Lubbock would be able to get their guac on.

According to the newshawks over at Lubbock in the Loop, The Plaza Restaurant & Bar will be opening their second Lubbock location at the quickly expanding corner of 114th and Slide Road in the near future.

This new location will mean that Lubbock is the only city where the family-owned and operated regional chain would have more than one location, as they presently have Texas outlets in Amarillo, Pampa, Borger, Childress, Dumas, as well as a location in Altus, Oklahoma. This would bring the total number of The Plaza restaurants to eight, regionally.

As of yet, there's no word on an opening date or even what corner the new restaurant would be located on.

United Supermarkets already has taken the northwest corner of 114th and Slide with their latest location, which includes an Evie Mae's BBQ and Texas Take Out. The entire 114th corridor is becoming rather built up in recent months, as a veritable shoppers and foodie paradise now stretches from Quaker Avenue to Slide Road. Slide and Quaker are also getting very built up, as the center of population in Lubbock slides to the south, with lots of food and retail options as well.

Of course, there are still several restaurants and businesses that have not yet opened formally in the area, but have announced their intention to relocate to that section of town. The Plaza is also getting a bit of a head start, as Asada Mexican Grill has announced plans to open near 106th and Slide. Competition for your salsa-stained dollar could get fierce.
