In the first prediction I've seen by a major network the USF Bulls are picked over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. It's an easy pick because the Bulls are 9-2 and the Red Raiders are 6-6 but I don't agree with the logic.

The prediction in question is from ESPN.com and it reads, "Points, please. Lots of them. Texas Tech's defense is significantly improved numberswise, but USF QB Quinton Flowers presents a huge challenge and will lead a talented Bulls team to its 10th win in his final game."

The final score prediction is 47-41.

To me, I'd be surprised if the Red Raiders put up 41 points. I'm not ready to lay down a prediction quite yet but I know for a fact this is the kind of narrative you will get from the national media. It will be all about how terrible the Texas Tech defense is.

The national narrative of the Texas Tech defense being laughable has been true in years past, but I think the national media will be surprised when Dakota Allen and company release the new and improved defense on the Bulls and a national offense. I just hope the offense comes along for the ride.

I think the defensive reputation nationally can start to heal with a strong showing against the Bulls of South Florida.

The same ESPN predictor has the Big 12 going 2-7 with the Sooners beating Georgia and losing to Clemson in the National Championship game.
