As we ramp up for the Rascal Roundup fundraiser this Saturday at The Garden with headliner Adam Hood I've been talking to the Riemath family about some of the scholarship recipients of the Brock Riemath Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Here are some of the remarkable stories, as provided by the Riemath family, of students who were greatly helped and inspired by receiving their scholarships!

Travis Marlar - one of our first recipients was Rascal's best friend growing up. Even wore #8 in his sports for Rascal. He worked for chancellor Kent Hance until he graduated from Texas Tech Univ. He has been a graduate of the Lubbock Leadership class and a part of great community efforts. He has participated in the UMC gala, cattle barons ball as well as March of Dimes. Travis still stays involved with the family and Rascal Round Up. He is now the commercial loan officer and branch manager for centennial bank in Lubbock.

We recieved a Great update on one of our Scholarship Recipients from Lorenzo! Chase received the scholarship and went on to graduate with a bachelor's in Psychology and Religion from Wayland Baptist University. He followed that with a Masters in Psychology and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology fron Wheaton College in Illinois. Chase is now serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force and is currently stationed at Hill Air Force Base. We are proud of your hard work.
We Salute you and Thank you for your Service! #HometownHero

My name is Stephanie Valverde and I have been blessed to have come to know and love the Riemath family. I am a single mother and have a beautiful, 11 year old little girl. I knew that being a young mother meant that I needed to set a good example for my daughter. In my mid 20’s, I decided to continue my education and work towards my bachelor’s degree in social work at Lubbock Christian University. I was blessed enough to be awarded the Brock Riemath Memorial Scholarship and with that and the help of God, graduated on May 5, 2018. I am now the inpatient social worker at Sunrise Canyon Hospital and on August 8th of this year, I will be completing my master’s degree in Social work thru the University of Texas Arlington. I am a first generation college graduate and will be the first to have a Master’s degree in my family. I can only say that God will always put the right people in your life at the right time and without this scholarship I would of never been able to come this far! #Ididitwithrascalshelp

He has has been studying abroad in Finland, Japan and Australia.
He is a Computer Science major and currently at the end of my 4th year.

"I will likely be done after one more semester. My GPA is a 3.48. I hope to get a job in public sector software development or work on mobile apps or something to that effect. Might try and get into video game development at some point."
