Multiple units of the Lubbock Fire Department responded to an apartment complex fire on Tuesday, July 11.

The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at the Hunter's Way Apartments in the 5500 block of 56th Street. A portion of the complex borders West Loop 289, and from a view provided by TxDOT cameras it appears firefighters were putting out the fire at buildings that border the West Loop 289 access road.

KAMC News reports occupants of some of the apartment buildings have been evacuated due to the fire. Motorists are urged to avoid the westbound South Loop 289 access road west of Slide Road, and 50th Street between Chicago Avenue to West Loop 289.

So far, no word on the cause of the fire and no reports of any injuries.
