I lost two of my six brothers in 2012 because they both chose to ignore their health, didn't get regular checkups and consequently died. So Movember, the campaign focused on men's health and the importance of the early detection of prostate cancer, is something dear to my heart.

In my personal experience, sucking it up and attending regular check ups and early detection are the main reasons one of my brothers is alive today. The two brothers who passed might still be alive had they gone to the doctors and their illnesses -- prostate cancer and diabetes -- had been detected and treated.

None of us, male or female, like going to the doctor -- especially if it means undressing and having our private parts looked at, poked, prodded and examined. But it is very important and really could save your life.
