Back in March, I told y'all the exciting news that a little bit of Hawaii is coming to Lubbock. Well, now we have some more information on it!

Back in the 1880s pineapples, sugar plantations and workforce were growing in Hawaii. As that was happening workers' lunches normally had leftover meats and rice from the night before.

Fast forward to the 1950s and plate lunches grew. You would see stands along the roads throughout the islands serving up lunch for workers. Today these lunch places consist of meat and two scoops of white rice and one scoop of macaroni salad.

That's how Hawaiian Bros Island Grill came to be found. They serve up plate lunches that are an essential part to the Hawaiian culture. The island staple is now here in the states through Hawaiian Bros Island Grill.

They made their food with "generous portions of fresh, quality ingredients, with service that’s not only fast, but also friendly and welcoming. And we never use freezers, fryers or microwaves," according to their website.

Well, they have decided to open a location in Lubbock.

"We do have plans to put a restaurant in Lubbock, TX. However, we don't have a date set for this just yet," said an employee at the company.

When they open here you can enjoy things like Huli Huli Chicken, Molokai chicken, Honolulu chicken, Luau pig, SPAM® Musubi, salads and more.
