
Guess What: Lubbock Has A New Professional Sports Team
Did you know Lubbock has a new women's professional fastpitch softball team?
They just hosted their first official practice in Floydada on Wednesday evening.
The Adelitas, who have brought in players from all over the country, have moved their opening series from LCU’s Maner Park to Floydada at the Lady Winds Field at 618 Whirlwind Alley.
Swarthmore College assistant softball coach Justus Perry has signed to play with the Hub City Adelitas, an expansion team in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League.
"This opportunity is incredibly special to me, as it has always been a dream of mine to play in the WPF," said Perry. "My goal is to continue playing the sport I love, while also impacting the community and youth of Lubbock, Texas. It's so special to represent myself and my background at the highest level of professional softball, and I could not be more grateful and excited for this opportunity!"
Former Gael standout Alex Casas '19, who has become one of the first signings of the Hub City Adelitas, a new expansion team in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League, playing in Lubbock, Texas.
Former Arizona Wildcat third baseman Blaise Biringer is not done with softball yet. The recent graduate was announced as a member of the new Hub City Adelitas of Women’s Professional Fastpitch.
BYU softball alum Maddie Bejarano signed with the team as well along with Michigan State star softball pitcher Liv Grey.
They open the WPF season facing Coastal Bend Tidal Wave starting Thursday, June 20-23 in Floydada.
The two teams will have games at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and another game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are $5 at the gate.
Kids 14 and under in uniform get in free!
