Gas prices have gone up slightly in Lubbock, and across Texas, over this past week.
According to this week's AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the average price for regular unleaded in Texas is now $1.86 a gallon. That's an increase of one cent from last week. Lubbock's average price went up three cents to $1.79 a gallon.
Abilene saw the biggest drop over the past week, with their average price for regular unleaded dropping 12 cents to $1.91 a gallon.
“Higher crude oil prices seem to be setting into the pump prices around Texas,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “However, the slight increases may only be temporary due to a climbing number of positive COVID-19 cases, which could further put a dent in demand for retail gasoline.” AAA Texas also notes, the latest Energy Information Administration (EIA) report shows a decline, week-to-week, in regional supply of gasoline stock.
This week's national average is unchanged at $2.16 a gallon.
The most expensive gas in Texas is found in Odessa, with an average price of $2.04 a gallon. In neighboring Midland, the average price is $1.98 a gallon.
AAA Texas releases the Weekend Gas Watch report each Thursday.
