Frankenstein Science! Coming to Lubbock’s Science Spectrum on 1/5/2018
January 1st marked the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelly's classic Victorian horror novel, Frankenstein. I could write for hours on the importance of this one novel on all of modern literature, but let's suffice it to say that Frankenstein is a big deal.
To celebrate, the Science Spectrum is hosting a FREE event for all ages, including hands-on activities that explore the scientific themes that define Frankenstein, including robotics, genetic engineering, and electricity. The event also seeks to highlight the ethics of responsible innovation. For example, don't make a monster that goes around murdering. The event is this Friday, January 5th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This event is part of a nationwide initiative, Frankenstein200.org. It will be held in the lobby. Standard OMNI movie tickets and museum entrance fees still apply if you choose to include that in your trip to the Science Spectrum. I really do recommend visiting the museum at least yearly, it really is quite fun, even for adults.
