Four Sixes Ranch Heiress' Art Collection Going Up For Auction

An art collection that belonged to Anne Marion, the late heiress to the historic Four Sixes Ranch in West Texas, is going up for auction in Spring 2021 in New York.

KAMC News reports that Marion's collection, estimated at around $150 million, includes works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Franz Kline. Warhol's "Elvis 2 Times," Richard Diebenkorn's "Ocean Park No. 40" and Clyfford Still's "PH-125 (1948-No. 1)" are expected to each sell at over $20 million.

It's said that the works that formed Marion's extensive art collection were featured in her home in Fort Worth, which was designed by architect I.M. Pei. A number of other works from her collection will be given to both the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.

Marion, who passed away in February of 2020 at the age of 81, founded the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Anne Marion and her husband, John Marion, who was a former Sotheby's chairman and auctioneer, established the museum in 1997.

Marion was the great-granddaughter of Captain Samuel Burk Burnett, and was the heiress to the Four Sixes Ranch. She took over the family business from her mother, Anne Valliant Burnett Tandy following her death in 1980.

Marion then served as president of Burnett Ranches, and that includes the Four Sixes Ranch. She was then the chairwoman of the Burnett Oil Co.
