A restaurant that originated in Midland, Texas, El Malecon Mariscos & Bar will be opening soon in the former Stella's location on 50th Street in Lubbock.

I imagine that the particular location they chose is full of great vibes from years of excellent cuisine. Guys, the menu looks absolutely mouthwatering.

I cannot wait to try this place. With tortas, tacos, tons of different kinds of seafood, soups, and traditional Mexican favorites, they seem to cover all of the bases. From fried food to light and fresh, it looks like there will be something for everyone in the family.

The location they chose really couldn't have been better. Stella's was there for years until moving to 82nd Street. Their 5-star online ratings, as well as their history of excellence among Lubbock residents, should speak volumes about the building to the new owners. It's a great spot that the people of Lubbock remember from excellent dining experiences of the past. It's easier to get a new restaurant off the ground in a place that isn't cursed with bad memories. This location definitely is not.

If the food is half as good as the pictures look, then we will be in business. The photo of the Camarones Hawaianos (shrimp and bacon cooked with pineapples and onions and served inside half of a pineapple) has got me drooling just thinking about it. Then again, there are so many others that look just as delectable.

I couldn't find an official Facebook page for the Lubbock location yet, so we don't have a firm grand opening date. But I'll be there with bells on to show them some love when they kick it off, which could be soon since the signs are all up already.
