Ding-dong ditching, especially so soon after someone in Lubbock got shot answering their door early in the morning, seems like a really, really stupid idea.

Back on Thursday, May 12th, a poor Lubbock homeowner was shot after they answered the door at 3 a.m. The doorbell rang 3 times, and when the victim answered, a man wearing a ski mask jumped out from around the corner and shot them. You could even see it on the doorbell camera.

This story was huge. People were talking about it constantly, and it makes sense. That's the kind of horror story you tell your kids so they don't answer the door for strangers.

Now with the context of all that, why in the hell would you go ding-dong ditching at 11 p.m. at night just a week after something like that happened? My buddy George posted to Operation Crime Watch about this happening to him on Saturday, May 21st.

He posted the footage from his doorbell camera that showed 2 guys walking up to the door, hearing something (maybe the dog) and running off like a couple of scared schoolgirls. Apparently they had knocked on the door a few times before, and George was ready to open fire if he needed to, since he was aware of what happened a week prior and wasn't going to take any chances.

I think it was fair of him to be on edge, especially with these guys banging on your door so late at night. Most people would have reacted the same, I feel.

So don't be an idiot, and don't go ding-dong ditching so soon after an incident like the one mentioned above. You know what? Don't go ding-dong ditching at all. It's stupid and you're gonna get yourself shot.
