Texas Tech Student Gets in Trouble at Airport for ‘Guns Up’ Hand Gesture
A gun will definitely get you in trouble at the airport. But a gun hand gesture? Yep. And a Texas Tech sophomore found out the hard way.
According to BuzzFeed, 19-year-old Diana Durkin was at William P. Hobby Airport in her native Houston to fly back to Lubbock after holiday break when she noticed a fellow traveler wearing a Texas Tech sweatshirt. In a display of school spirit, Durkin 'got her guns up.' And that's when a TSA agent stepped in.
"[The TSA agent] said, 'What are you doing? You can't do that in an airport,'" Durkin told BuzzFeed, adding that she felt "terrified." "Oh my gosh, they think I'm a terrorist," Durkin said she was thinking and feared she would go to jail over the hand gesture.
Durkin showed her ID and was eventually let off with a warning, but not before receiving a pat down and full screening.
