Data Compiled From Fitness Apps Shows Texas Is Top State for Running
Reuters reports that millions of Americans are using these apps and they are giving fitness experts new insights on the habits of the people logged onto the apps.
The data was compiled from fitness and workout tracker apps MyFitnessPal and MapMyFitness.
Texas is at the top for running, with a whopping 47 percent of the workouts logged in from Texas. There is currently no data for why Texas is so high, but the fact that residents can run year round and many parts of the state are flat could have something to do with it.
The most active residents based in length and frequency were California, Colorado and Washington. The least active were South Carolina, Delaware and North Dakota.
Most of the data was taken from people aged 25-44 and walking was by far the most common activity across the United States.
