Did you know that actress Cristi Conaway is from Lubbock, Texas?

She was born on August 14th, 1964, right here in Lubbock, and was raised by a car dealer and a real estate agent. She went on to study acting at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Conaway's television debut was in the show Children of the Bride in 1990 where she played the role of Lydia. She went on to play the receptionist at Halberstrom Clinic in 1991's Doc Hollywood, before playing the Ice Princess in Batman Returns in 1992, one of her most recognizable roles.

She must have made an impression with that film, because she went on to star in several other movies throughout the '90s, including Husbands and Wives, Nina Takes a Lover, Underworld, My Brother's War, and then in 2001, Joe Somebody.

Other television performances of Conaway's include 1993's Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman, Tales from the Crypt (1995) and Timecop (1997). Oh, and if you're a video game fan, you can hear her voice as the news anchor in the lesser-known 1994 game Loadstar: The Legend of Tully Bodine.

Conaway ended her acting career in 2002 and went on to become an acclaimed fashion designer. She specializes in scarves, silk dresses and sweaters. She most recently added a men's collection to her clothing line and she currently resides in Santa Monica, California.

It's safe to say that Lubbock water is probably what made her so gosh darn successful and beautiful. It's always fun to hear about a big star from your hometown, and this one was quite the surprise. You can celebrate Cristi Conaway's Lubbock upbringing by watching Batman Returns tonight.
