Imagine being on a flight from Los Angeles to Dallas and the entire way you have to hear moaning and groaning sounds coming over the loud speaker. Apparently, that's exactly what happened on a recent American Airlines flight.

The sounds, described as "somewhere between an orgasm and vomiting," went viral this week after a video appeared on Twitter and TikTok and took off from there. In the video, which you can watch below, you see other passengers laugh and cringe. Meanwhile, a flight attendant is heard in the background apologizing for the "extremely irritating sounds."

But that's not where the story stops. According to the Washington Post, passengers on other American Airlines flights have experienced hearing the same moans and groans.

“Following the initial report, our maintenance team thoroughly inspected the aircraft and the PA system and determined the sounds were caused by a mechanical issue with the PA amplifier, which raises the volume of the PA system when the engines are running,” [American Airlines spokesperson Sarah Jantz] said. The first report the airline received was the Sept. 18 Santa Ana-Dallas flight, according to Jantz. “Our team is reviewing the additional reports,” she added.

The good news? The moans and groans seem to have nothing to do with the actual safety and security of the flight. It's just really annoying.
