The 3-year-old child of 35-year-old Heather Casias, a woman who was recently charged with the murder of Celestino Rodriguez, has been taken into custody by Child Protective Services.

According to KAMC News, CPS was already involved with the family, and the child was supposed to be in the care of a grandparent.

Court records say that Casias and Brett Garza, who was also charged with murder, were in a hotel room with the child high on methamphetamines. On Friday, August 16th, CPS received drug test results for the child that tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamines.

The child had also tested positive for methamphetamines and marijuana back in November 2015. This was when they were placed in the care of another family member.
