Construction Begins on 2nd Location of The Plaza in Lubbock

The intersection of 114th and Slide Road is getting even busier.

United Supermarkets already has established their corner of the intersection, and now dirt is moving on the southeast corner of 114th and Slide for the second location of a favorite in Lubbock, The Plaza Restaurant and Bar.

It was back in October 2021 when we learned that The Plaza would be expanding in Lubbock and bringing their great food to Southwest Lubbock. The Plaza already does great business at their first location in Lubbock at 5209 Milwaukee Avenue. Aside from the pandemic, which hit every restaurant in town, The Plaza always seems to draw a crowd.

The Plaza has been growing at a great pace. The Plaza began in Borger in 2001 and then expanded to Amarillo in 2003. The third location for The Plaza opened in 2006 in Pampa. Then, in May 2016, The Plaza opened in Lubbock. In recent years, The Plaza has also opened in Childress and Dumas.

Lubbock will be the only city so far to have more than one location of The Plaza and obviously the owners know that Lubbock can handle a second location.

As I mentioned earlier, the opening of The Plaza will make 114th and Slide Road a very busy intersection and could lead to even more restaurants building in the area. United Supermarkets has Evie Mae's BBQ inside, and a Toot'n Totum gas station will be built across from The Plaza on the northeast corner of 114th and Slide Road. Asada Mexican Grill is set to open soon at 106th and Slide.
