The growth of high schools in and around Lubbock continues. Various milestones are marked from either an academic or athletic perspective. The latest milestone came Monday night (March 21st) at New Home High School in Lynn County.

On Monday, New Home's softball team hit a new milestone for their program. The Lady Leopards beat Seagraves in their first-ever UIL District game. Last season, New Home Softball played a schedule mixed between UIL non-district games and games against private schools. For 2022, New Home Softball joined UIL District 4-2A and is playing most of their schedule as district games.

For the 2022 softball season, UIL District 4-2A includes: Colorado City, Forsan, Post, Seagraves, Tahoka, Borden County, Hermleigh, Ira and Westbrook. New Home's district schedule includes home-and-away match-ups against: Seagraves, Forsan, Tahoka, Post and Colorado City.

The UIL Playoffs for softball start during the last week of April.
