Californian Accepts Plea Deal for Possession of Over 140 Pounds of Marijuana
A Californian man accepted a plea deal in Lubbock on Tuesday (Nov. 20) for possession of marijuana.
KAMC News reports 32-year-old Maksim Anatolyevich Mironov admitted in court that he was caught in the Plainview, Texas airport with more than 140 pounds of marijuana.
Court records say Mironov is a pilot who landed a single-engine plane in Plainview and when questioned by Homeland Security Agents, he became nervous. A drug dog was brought to check the plane.
Mironov stated that he was flying to California to Austin and stopped in Plainview to refuel. He later admitted that he was paid $14,000 to smuggle the marijuana to Alabama.
If the plea deal is accepted, Mironov will be sentenced to a maximum of 5 years in prison.
