Billions Worth of Treasure Discovered in Indian Temple [VIDEO]

In a story that sounds like it came straight out of a Nicolas Cage movie, archaeologists have uncovered a treasure trove of of jewelry, coins and precious stones estimated to be worth $10 billion to $20 billion.

Parsed among five vaults in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the southern Indian state of Kerala, the bounty represents centuries worth of gifts from the temple’s devotees.

Construction of the temple, which is famous for its intricate sculptures, likely began some time in the mid-16th century. Police are currently guarding the temple around the clock as the Indian government debates how to proceed with the formerly buried treasure.
