Anything For Selenas! Celebrate the Queen of Tejano in Lubbock
If you were alive and living in Texas in the 80's and early 90's then you know that many Texans will do anything for Selenas! That's Selena Quintanilla-Perez not Selena Gomez, Gomez is the second most loved Selena of Texas though, and following her death in 1995 her birthday was made a Texas holiday.
April 16th is the Queen of Tejano's birthday and was made a holiday by former Governor, and President, George W. Bush. from then until the end of time. So there are some ways you could celebrate the special day such as wearing your favorite bustier, because it's not a bra with sprinkly things on it, or maybe even eating a medium pepperoni pizza by yourself and never exercising. Well there are some events going on in Lubbock but one event seems to stand out.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas in Lubbock is actually throwing a watch party on April 16th where they will be showing the 1997 movie Selena, starring Jennifer Lopez, and there will be lots of special treats. There will be fun props, special food in theme with the movie, and everyone is encouraged to sing along with the songs if you know them. Which you should know them if you are attending this special movie party celebrating one of the most beloved daughters of Texas.
This is an interactive screening which means the Alamo Drafthouse does encourage everyone to sing along and participate in all the fun. This movie party is on April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Alamo Drafthouse with a few tickets for this event still available online, but are selling out fast. See you there Lubbock!
