A Beloved Figure in the Lubbock Hispanic Community Has Passed Away
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Julian Perez, otherwise known as Pancho Clos. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Perez worked for a number of years in the HVAC industry and spent a number of years as Pancho Clos. He was also a member of the American G.I. Forum.
I've seen Mr. Perez perform many times as Pancho Clos, and I for one will miss him greatly.
For the last two years, we've reported on the event during the holiday season:
Since 1971 and thanks to the American GI Forum, Pancho Clos has been delivering holiday greetings to the children of the Lubbock area. The concept was developed as a way to bring a little bit of traditional Mexican culture to Christmas. But instead of Pancho Claus, it is Clos so not to confuse the little ones!
Thank you for giving joy to the people of Lubbock, Mr. Perez. Rest in peace.
