The Texas Tech relationship with the MLB draft is becoming more and more exciting. Two of the highest Red Raider draft picks have come in the last two years and with more than 40 Red Raiders taken since 2013 the brands are becoming very familiar.

It's not just current Red Raiders being drafted either, it's potential Red Raiders too.

Michael Harris, Darrel Hernaiz, and Nate Rombach were all drafted by Major League organizations this week in the 2019 MLB draft.

All three prospects were high school grads coming to Texas Tech as Freshmen.

Harris is a lefty from Georgia that has a low 90's fastball. He was drafted in the third round by the Atlanta Braves. I couldn't imagine him passing up that opportunity, which is what Harris confirmed on twitter.

Hernaiz played high school ball at El Paso Americas and projects to the next level as a 2nd baseman though he played SS in high school where he hit .404 with 7 home runs and 35 walks. He was drafted in the 5th round by the Baltimore Orioles. It's not unheard of that a 5th round draft pick chooses college over the Minor Leagues, but I wouldn't bank on Hernaiz manning the keystone for Texas Tech next season.

Nate Rombach is a catcher from Arlington, Texas. He's a 6'3" right handed hitter that also plays 1st and 3rd base and went to Mansfield Legacy. Rombach was drafted as a catcher by the Marlins in the 19th round. In the 18th and 20th rounds the Marlins drafted collegiate catchers.
