WalletHub
considered 17 of the most important factors in ranking the 100 most populated U.S. cities.

According to the report 81 percent of us are planning a summer vacation, however, with the average household still owning roughly $7,000 in credit card debt, being a bit more frugal might be in order.

Wallethub took in factors like recreation, food, entertainment rest and relaxation into consideration when making the list and each city was ranked in these categories.

Lubbock came in as the 40th best city for a "staycation" according to the report. The were ranked 34th out of 100 in "Recreation", 50th in "Food & Entertainment" and 43rd in "Rest & Relaxation".  Overall not a bad ranking of the top 100 most populous cities.

The highest ranking city in Texas was Austin at #16.  Number One was Orlando, FL (no big surprise), but Atlanta was #2 and Cincinnati was #3!

Other notables were Albuquerque, NM at #23.  Corpus Christi was #52, El Paso was #63 and Dallas was actually #72. So, staying at home in Lubbock for your vacation is actually a pretty good idea!
