The 67-year-old Fort Worth man was eventually rescued by police.

Fox News 11 reported that police got a call Monday night from the missing man's family. They said he left while it was still daylight to buy a lottery ticket at a nearby neighborhood store but hadn't returned.

Police started searching, and one officer noticed a large open construction hole and approached the opening where he saw the elderly man lying in the cold water at the bottom of the 7-foot-deep hole.

The officer jumped in the hole to help the man and called for assistance.

No serious injuries were reported, but them man's current condition was not available.
