Arbor Day Activities Beautify Texas Tech University

One of the annual events that take place at Texas Tech University is the Arbor Day celebration and this year is no different. It's planned for Friday at Memorial Circle on campus starting at 11 a.m. with free food, live music and of course in the early afternoon, the tree-planting in honor of Arbor Day.

A Texas Tech University student, senior geophysics major from Austin, Jeffrey Poole, is a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army; and he is coordinating a special event throughout the month of April for the Texas Tech Veterans Association. It's "Cell Phones for Soldiers", a non-profit campaign collecting old, used and even broken phones which are sold to refurbishing companies.
