Apparently the need to feel more respected or to just fit in with the crowd has grown over the past decade.According to the story in the New York Times men who have a "baby-face" are feeling insecure and getting hair from their head transplanted to their face. Apparently they feel like people respect them more with facial hair.

It may be true, but spending 7 to 10,000.00 to have a doctor put hair on your face seems a bit silly. Are we really that obsessed with following trends? Whatever happened to individualism? If someone doesn't respect you for not having a beard or mustache that's there problem!

One example given in the report was a man who was a paramedic. He says people look at him funny when he was helping them. Really? If I'm dying on the roadside bleeding all over, my last thoughts will not be, "I wonder how old this guy is who's trying to help me?"

Well, if it's really that important to people, I will donate some of my hair the next time I cut it, to someone who really wants a beard.  Never mind the women who lose their hair from chemo, it's more important these hipsters have the proper beard to look cool when sipping on a craft beer listening to smooth jazz. (or whatever hipsters listen to)

So... do I look more respectful with facial hair?
