Make Plans For The La Mesa Chicken Fried Steak Festival And Balloon Rally In April

The La Mesa Chicken Fried Steak Festival is a great excuse for a road trip in April. This annual event is growing every year.

La Mesa is known as the birthplace of Chicken Fried Steak and has created this annual three day event to celebrate that fact. According to their Facebook page, in April of 2011, the Texas Legislature declared La Mesa the Official Home of the legendary dish.

The festival includes a Chicken Fried Steak dinner, a Chicken Fried Steak Cook-off, hot air balloons, a classic car show, a 5k walk, arts and crafts, live music and even a Pet Contest.

This year's annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival is April 28-30 at Forrest Park, 814 S. Houston, La Mesa, Texas, just about an hour's drive down the road. Enjoy!
