I've only been in Lubbock for a few weeks but I already feel at home, here's some of the cool things I've observed so far about this awesome city!
My wife and I have only been here a couple weeks, we moved from Florida where we lived for about a year and a half.  Originally I'm from Fargo, North Dakota up there on the frozen tundra.  (Yes, THAT Fargo from the Movie and TV show)  If you ever want to hear the accent I'll be happy to oblige.
There's a lot of similarities between here and Fargo, both are on the "plains" where it's flat and you can see forever.  Texas and ND are both known for oil production and ranching too.  There's on BIG difference though, we have 6 months of snow and a brutal winter.
Here are some great things I've already found out about Lubbock, I'm sure there will be more to come.
10.  Great shopping and stores. Seriously, there's some fantastic shopping here in Lubbock, great grocery stores, a bunch of health food shops, my wife and I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of shopping here in Lubbock.
9.  Canadian Geese. I'm from North Dakota and we had them by the thousands, these could be the ones that migrate from up north in the Winter. I really feel like home with all the geese!

8.  The home of Buddy Holly!  Are you kidding me?  He's one of the most influential artists of all time!  Here's the irony though, he was on his way to play in the Fargo/Moorhead area (where I grew up) when his plane crashed.  He's always been a big part of the community there too, so many people are still saddened by his loss in that area.

7.  Haboobs.  No, I don't want to be in one, in fact that would be horrible.  However, I have a very juvenile sense of humor and that is just a funny word .

6.  This horse trailer in the parking our apartment parking lot.  I grew up on a farm, we had one similar to this, the fact that it's in our parking lot is just cool.

5.  FOOD!!!  Steakhouses and Barbecue everywhere.  I'm in heaven.  I already had some local food too like tamales and loved them, can't wait to try more!

4.  Prairie Dogs are here.  We have them in North Dakota but hours from where I lived. I could watch them all day, very entertaining... unless they're in your backyard I imagine, then they're probably a pain in the backside.

3.  Texas Tech Red Raiders.  This might sound like I'm sucking up but I've always like Texas Tech even though I grew up in North Dakota.  I love the colors, the logo and the cool swag!

1.  The People!   Everyone here has been amazingly friendly, people smile and say "hello" at the grocery store, you're courteous and polite and very helpful.  I can't believe how my wife and I have been welcomed into the community, it already feels like home.
