Now this is an awesome night. You will get a six-course meal, wine and help a good cause.

Every year Alström Angels gathers up five of their top local chefs to showcase their culinary creativity with unique dishes not served in their restaurants as a fundraiser. This event is called West Texas Taste of the Field.

This year is back and better than ever. Guests will enjoy a six-course meal, each course created by one chef and featuring locally sourced ingredients. As each course is presented, experts from Llano Estacado Winery will pair the dish with a specially chosen wine.

Alström Angels is a local nonprofit that was formed back in March 2012 by  Cassie Johnston and her family, shortly after her 3-year-old daughter, Bryce, was diagnosed with Alström Syndrome; one of the rarest and most devastating diseases in the world.

Their initial intent was three-fold: bring more awareness to Alström Syndrome so children could be diagnosed earlier, raise funds to conduct more medical research and better family support for Alström families around the world.

Now the nonprofit has grown and even helped start up Milestones Park which will be opening up soon in Lubbock. The proceeds from this years event will benefit Milestones Park as they open the doors to the community on December 1st and help fund membership scholarships for kiddos. Their goal is to make sure every child has the opportunity to play inside Milestones Park.

Here is a look at what chefs will be at this year's event.

The 2023 chef line-up includes:

  1. Tony Pina - Claraboya Scratch Kitchen
  2. Tasha Teel - The Cakery
  3. Jason Waters - The Escondido Grill
  4. Bobby Bridges - The Co-Op Public House
  5. Jon Walter - Chez Sami

The event is being held on Sunday, October 15th, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a welcome reception and check-in from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the dinner starts at 6 p.m. The event takes place at the Tin Top Gin, 100 W Dawson St, Slaton, TX 79364.
