The competition for our consumer dollars is rabid this holiday season. Retailers posting their 2014 Black Friday sales specials have been one-upped by competitors actually starting their deals today.

Walmart has been touting a price match for a couple of weeks, but gained ground with these specials after announcing on Wednesday that it’ll offer a week of extended pre-Black Friday deals starting November 21.

Not to be outdone, Staples is kicking off its Black Friday sales this Sunday, November 23 and running the deals through Black Friday itself.

The big box office supplier will give shoppers 20 percent off of anything they can fit in a Staples bag on Sunday through Tuesday, and 25 percent off of a single in-store item on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

And Stein Mart joined the race with their holiday sale Friday and Saturday, featuring up to 60% regular priced items and an additional 40% percent off clearance prices.
