Texas Tech Baseball had a midweek game scheduled tonight against Oklahoma, but a press release from Texas Tech has confirmed that the weather has forced the Big 12 opponents to reschedule their non-conference game for May the 4th.

Yes, May the 4th be with you.

Here's what Texas Tech had to say about the postponement:

The No. 5 Texas Tech baseball team had its midweek matchup with Oklahoma postponed due to weather conditions in Amarillo on Tuesday.

The Big 12 rivals have agreed to reschedule the non-conference matchup at HODGETOWN on Tuesday, May 4 at 6 p.m. Television coverage is TBD.

Game tickets for the April 20 game will be valid for the rescheduled matchup on May 4 at HODGETOWN with no ticket exchanges necessary.

The Red Raiders (26-8; 7-5) now turn their attention to a three-game series against Baylor (24-12; 5-7) this weekend at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. The series gets underway Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The game would have been the first Red Raider appearance at Hodgetown in Amarillo, Texas which is the home of the AA affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks who are appropriately named Sod Poodles.

This is all good news for the Red Raiders. First, they get the rest after having to travel to Morgantown over the weekend. The postponement is also rescheduled before May 9th, which is when the NCAA has decided to announce the Regional and Super Regional hosts. Both Texas Tech and Oklahoma need this matchup to help their RPI with Texas Tech gunning for a National seed and Oklahoma trying to stay in the tournament fight.
