Country music is as American as football / apple pie / insert-any-other-cliche-phrase-here, so it makes sense that, from time to time, the genre's artists would don some patriotic clothing.
Every time I hear Lee Greenwood sing "God Bless the U.S.A." I feel an immense pride in my country and so "proud to be an American" as the song states. But recent news of an elementary school in Massachusetts making the children sing a different rendition, leaving "God" out of the lyrics, shocks and angers me.
Friday is Veterans Day. The "top 9 at 9" will feature songs of patriotism. Songs that pay tribute to those that have and are serving our country and fighting for our freedom. We also remember those who paid the ultimate price in doing so.
