The singer continues to rely on Jonathan Singleton to help him create country music magic, from "Let It Rain" to "Red Light" and Nail's latest single, "Nights on Fire." During a recent visit to our ToC Nights studio, Nail explained the interesting process.

It's tempting to latch onto a narrative that the happier themes David Nail explores on 'I'm a Fire' mirror his treatment for depression. Before this album, he was known for dark, heavy ballads about the loss of love, but now tracks like 'Whatever She's Got' and 'I'm a Fire' find him bathing in sunshine.

David Nail does heavy heartbreak as well as anyone except maybe Gary Allan, so fans may have had reason to cringe when he said 'I'm a Fire' would be a more upbeat collection of songs. Upbeat? Definitely. Fluffy? No way.
