Grand Jury Indicts Lubbock Man for Sexually Assaulting Girl Who Was Under 14
A Grand Jury indicted Robert Lee Castaneda (pictured above) Tuesday (May 22) for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The indictment says that in August 2011, the 34-year-old Castaneda sexually abused a girl under the age of 14. KAMC News reports that Lubbock Police were told in 2015 that Castaneda continued the abuse until July 2013.
The girl also told police that Castaneda offered her money for her to do sexual acts for him. At first, it was $20. Then, he offered $50 and $100. KAMC reports that the victim attempted suicide by poison at some point. She was also reportedly told by a family member who discovered the sexual abuse to keep quiet about it.
Castanenda is being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on an $80,000 bond awaiting arraignment.
