Winter is here and so is 2025, and if you've felt the temperatures have been a little too warm for the season, just wait until next week. Temperatures are set to plunge throughout the state early next week as a mass of arctic cold weather will plunge into Texas and the southwest.

While Texas will see cold temperatures next week, the eastern half of the United States will see brutally cold weather. But this could just be the start of arctic weather making its way from Canada to Texas.

How Cold Will It Be In Texas During the next Polar Vortex?

It's still too early to say exactly how cold temperatures will get in Texas next week. The Dallas Morning News reports that portions of north Texas could see lows in the 30's and below for multiple days.

One forecast from the National Weather Service shows the high in Lubbock next Tuesday will be in the mid 30's with lows in the 20's.

Will Texas See a Major Snow Storm Next Week?

A few days ago and even into last week when forecasters first saw this front making its way to Texas, the answer was maybe. Today? The answer is still maybe but the chances aren't as good as they were. Still, with lows in the 20's next week in Lubbock and into the Panhandle, it might be wise to be aware of possible frozen streets and overpasses. Especially is people leave sprinkler systems on.

The truth is, it is very hard to forecast snow and where snow will fall this far out. By Monday, we should know more.
