Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Early Morning Rollover Accident on FM 400
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle rollover accident that occurred Monday morning east of the Lubbock city limits.
What Happened?
According to officials, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:22 a.m. on April 21, 2025, to the 7100 block of Farm-to-Market Road 400, also known as County Road 3400. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle that had rolled over off the roadway.
The Roosevelt Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist in the emergency efforts.
The Occupant?
The driver, a 57-year-old male, was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities report that he was successfully assisted out of the wrecked vehicle and transported to a local hospital by EMS. Fortunately, he is being treated for what have been described as minor injuries.
At this time, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released. Officials have not yet indicated whether weather, speed, or other contributing factors played a role in the crash.
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and is reminding drivers to use caution on rural roadways—especially during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions can change rapidly.
If you're ever involved in or witness a vehicle rollover, here’s what you should do immediately and safely, whether you're a driver, passenger, or first on the scene.
What Do You Do in Case of a Rollover?
If YOU Are In the Vehicle:
✅ Stay Calm and Check Yourself
Take a breath. If you're conscious, check yourself for injuries.
If you're upside down or sideways, don't unbuckle immediately—do it slowly and brace yourself to avoid falling or hitting anything hard.
Exit Safely (If Possible)
Turn off the ignition to reduce fire risk.
If the doors are jammed, try windows or even the sunroof.
If you smell fuel or see smoke, get out as quickly as you can without panicking.
Call 911 Immediately
Even if you're okay, a rollover is serious. Emergency services need to check everyone and secure the scene.
Don’t Try to Flip the Vehicle Back
Leave the vehicle as it is. Don’t try to move it or flip it. Wait for emergency professionals.
If You Witness a Rollover:
Stop at a Safe Distance
Turn on your hazard lights.
Make sure you're safe before approaching the scene.
Call 911
Give your exact location (road name, nearest mile marker, landmark).
Tell them how many vehicles and people appear to be involved.
Check for Danger Before Helping
Approach carefully—look for smoke, fuel leaks, or other hazards.
Only help victims if it’s safe to do so and they’re not visibly injured or trapped.
Pro Tip: Prevention
Wear your seatbelt. Every single time.
Drive the speed limit—rollovers are often caused by overcorrecting at high speeds.
Avoid distractions and stay alert, especially on rural or curvy roads.
We’ll provide updates as more information becomes available.
