Lubbock unfortunately seems to be in a funk with multiple businesses closing their doors recently. Whether it is due to a changing market, lower sales, or tough competition, there are many reasons small businesses close.

Tumbleweed + Sage Coffeehouse has been a staple for many Lubbock and Wolfforth residents. At the same time, they have been a source of major controversy due to their support of the LGBTQ+ community and their efforts to provide sexual health resources.

After openly struggling to make rent at the end of 2022, the Lubbock and Wolfforth community came together to show their support and try to keep the coffee shop afloat. Those efforts were successful at the time, but it seems that the business was still privately struggling.

They officially announced on May 24, 2023 that they will be closing their doors and are hoping to find someone that appreciates their efforts to purchase the shop.

Here is their official announcement:

”It is with super hearts that we have to let everyone know we are closing our doors. We have loved serving our community and this is not a light hearted decision. We will keep you posted on our last days of operation. We are also looking to sell the shop to someone who will love it as the coffee shop we built it to be. If you are interested in buying the shop please message us with any questions.”

I am sad to see another Lubbock business close their doors and I hope the owners see much success  whatever future endeavors they pursue.
