On Tuesday, May 13, Mayor Duane Crocker gave a special thank-you during the Victoria City Council meeting. He honored DeTar Healthcare System for their hard work and care by reading a proclamation. The proclamation celebrated National Nurses Week (May 6–12) and National Hospital Week (May 11–17).

Mayor Crocker spoke about how important the nurses, doctors, and hospital workers are to our community. He said the DeTar team always goes the extra mile to help people in Victoria and the Crossroads area. “They care for patients with kindness and respect,” he said. “They also work together to find new ways to help people feel better.”

This year’s theme for National Nurses Week is “The Power of Nurses.” It reminds us how nurses make a big difference every single day. National Hospital Week also helps people remember how hospitals are there to protect our health and care for us when we need it most.

Mayor Crocker said DeTar Healthcare System is a strong part of our community. He called the team a “pillar of strength, healing, and hope.” He thanked them for being there during both tough times and normal days.

Staff from DeTar attended the meeting and accepted the proclamation. They were proud to represent more than 1,000 workers who care for patients at DeTar Hospital Navarro and DeTar Hospital North. These hospitals help many families in the Victoria area.

The team at DeTar goes above and beyond to keep the people in our community safe and healthy. The mayor’s kind words meant a lot to the people who work hard every day to help others.
